Where Community Develops

About us

AON excels in the development and management of communities for people. Our diverse portfolio can offer you a wide range of career destinations. As a member of the AON team, you can enjoy the lifestyle advantages of the Kawarthas and Eastern Ontario, competitive pay and benefits, job security and job satisfaction. With operations in both Canada and the United States and over 50 years of quality and customer service, AON is one of Eastern Ontario's largest privately owned employers. Our broad portfolio includes residential and commercial rental space, retirement and long-term care homes, a construction company, and golf course and country club. The Gardens of Peterborough (Empress, Princess, Royal and Canterbury) promote the philosophy that you shouldn't have to move from your home just because you need change. Our Homes provide a continuum of care and support, distinguished by our extensive list of services and amenities. They offer independent Garden Homes, for the more active, traditional retirement with nursing and dietary support and Enriched Care for those with more extensive health care needs. Both of our long-term care homes, Centennial Place (Millbrook) and Moira Place (Tweed) combine a home-like atmosphere with flexible programs tailored to individual needs. They also promote life-enriching family and community involvement. Summit Terrace promotes the ultimate active senior lifestyle and luxury apartments. Residents can enjoy meals in the onsite "Pinnacle" restaurant, weekly housekeeping and linen service, stimulating social programs, and so much more. The scenic Port Hope Golf and Country Club winds through the grounds of the historic Penryn Park on the bluffs of Lake Ontario. The mansion overlooking the 18th fairway was built in 1859 and offers a spectacular setting for weddings, tournament parties and corporate events.

For the second year in a row, the OLTCA’s Together We Care Conference featured a presentation by AON’s team on our dynamic approaches to the various challenges that are commonly faced in long-term care. In 2023, we shared a presentation on the development and rollout of our Resident Support Attendant training program in response to the staffing shortage faced nationally in health services. This year, AON’s Vicki Coppins - Director of Dietary Services at Centennial Place and Alyson Kubica - Registered Dietitian for AON’s LTC Division, presented on the Culinary Stage. Together, they shared a presentation regarding how the shortage of nutritional supplements led to the creation of AON’s Recovery Drink. This is a nutritional supplement made with natural ingredients to provide extra protein, calories, and nutrients to help with healing of wounds, prevention of weight loss, surgery recovery, and other health issues where adequate food intake is not possible. We hope you all share our pride in the creativity and innovation of our Dietary leaders and we congratulate Vicki and Alyson. Well done!

The CNO's SPEP program has been an incredible tool to facilitate the successful registration and onboarding of internationally training nurses into registered positions in Ontario's healthcare system. Moira Place's own Director Of Care, Linda Facey, contributed to The Standard's article about how the program has supported our LTC homes in Ontario. Have a read in the link below! Earlier this month at Moira Place ( our LTC home in Tweed) , we welcomed internationally trained nurses and newly hired Resident Support Attendants to AON’s RSA Certificate program. What fun we had with this diverse group delivering IPAC principles, Abuse & Neglect prevention, palliative approach and end of life care and hands on practical training including meal assistance and lifts and transfers.

In early November we hosted a Pallium Canada LEAP LTC session for our LTC homes facilitated by Dr. John Beamish and our Corporate Nurse Consultant and CHPCN, April Coulter. Participants were engaged for two days in this awesome course including self-reflection and solidifying our palliative program goals for a palliative approach to care!

Last week Princess Gardens was honoured to sponsor the Canadian Council of the Blind (CCB) Peterborough Chapter for their Harmonious Holly Daze fundraising event. Local musicians performed for attendees and Princess catered the festive event. The funds raised contributes to their various local services including their lending library and transportation assistance programs. We were thrilled to sponsor this event and support such an important community group.
