What is a Species at Risk Assessment and why do I need one? Species at Risk (SAR) Assessments are conducted by our Natural Sciences experts to facilitate approvals for site alteration, land development, and public infrastructure projects. We analyze habitat suitability, examine native ranges, review historical occurrence records, and in some cases, search for individuals through targeted surveys. Natural heritage policies and environmental regulations are in place to protect SAR and their habitats. SAR Assessments help decision-makers evaluate whether a project can be carried out in accordance with these policies and regulations.
