Doug Robinson, CFP, RRC, CIM joined our board last year and also joined the Finance Committee, where his financial expertise has proven quite valuable. When asked about his involvement with Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation, here is what Doug had to say. What drove you to get involved with Kawartha-Haliburton Children’s Foundation? I strongly believe that kids’ lives and childhoods are significantly influenced at young ages, and society needs to look out for children. They have the potential to become our future leaders so we need to make sure we protect and support them from being vulnerable citizens. Why do you think it’s important to support youth in our communities? Every childhood is built on two categories - the memories made and daily living. I want more positives than negatives in each category of a young person’s life. Strong mental health starts at home where there are more positive memories, there is a strong foundation for their future. How would you describe the impact the foundation has? Everything is meaningful in what the Foundation is undertaking. They have 1000s of interactions that help kids, so you can see the actual work happening. Also, the programs the Foundation has underway are truly assisting kids to find a path forward after coming from difficult situations.
